Tips on cleaning counter tops

Countertops are basically horizontal surfaces that are installed or place on top of cabinets and are used as working surfaces for keeping utensils in the kitchen or for keeping toilet items in the bathrooms. A countertop is a lovely way to decorate any kitchen or a bathroom. In fact, it can improve the overall value of the home if done properly. However, all these can happen only when they are cleaned regularly and are maintained properly. Or else, any surface, be it a marble, ceramic or wood, can get damaged.

Different counter tops surfaces have different cleaning methods. For example, in order to clean an acrylic countertop, one can use a mild abrasive cleaner. Stains and scratches on this surface can be removed by rubbing with scouring powder or steel wool. Ceramic tiles are extremely durable and are resistant to heat and stain. However, the grout or the gap present between the tiles is not resilient. In order to clean these regions, one can scrub using a toothbrush or a nailbrush dipped in a mild abrasive cleaner. In case of marble surfaces, they need to seal periodically using a commercial sealant so as to reduce its porosity. Best way to clean marble is to dip a cloth in a mild soap solution and wipe the surface. One can even use a borax powder for cleaning.
